The girls were off of school on Friday so I convinced Eric to take the day off too and we took the girls to an old abandoned ghost town about two hours north of Las Vegas. The town was called Rhyolite and was built in the early 1900's but was abandoned by about 1920 - if you ever visit out there and see how desolate it is you would be able to understand why everyone left! In honor of Nevada Day and Halloween we thought it would be fun to go take a look. I think the girls were expecting something spookier and more haunted but we managed to have a good time anyway!
These plaster "ghosts" are the first thing you see as you drive into the town - kinda cool...
Apparently some ghosts ride bikes?
A closer look...
A funky ceramic tile couch - cousin Sierra joined us for the afternoon too!
Did I mention it was a mining town?
There is more Halloween blogging to be done but the Rhyolite trip is all I've got in me for the moment. Enjoy the pictures - more to come!
