Not such a great day...

So this morning, I'm caravaning up to Mt. Charleston with my sisters and just as I turn onto the Lee Canyon Road, the transmission blows on my van. Seriously. There's only 46,000 miles on this vehicle - my last van went over 100,000 miles before I even started to feel slippage and today I had no warning at all - it just went. Fortunately we were caravaning and fortunately my insurance covered towing and fortunately my dad was even with us so I didn't feel like a lost lady with car problems. Unfortunately, my money tree is not in bloom right now so the $2200.00 it will cost to get it fixed is going to have to come out of thin air - so lovely!!

Then Erika and Hailey had dentist appmts. today. No cavities!! That's good news. However, Erika has a tooth that won't come out because it's wedged in and Hailey has two teeth growing into the exact same spot and a cluster of others above them that also want to come in there (it was the freakiest x-ray I've ever seen!) and they want to pull one of her permanent teeth. Not so good news. I decided to wait on Erika's tooth and try a box of milk duds first - seriously. I'm going to schedule an orthodontic consult for Hailey before I let anyone pull her tooth because I just want the OK from them, and a treatment plan so that I know it's alright to let go of that tooth. Kelcie and I have appointments on Friday so hopefully there won't be anymore surprises waiting for us!

In other news, Erika got contacts yesterday!! She's doing really well in them and feels like she can see much more clearly than with her glasses. Eric's not so excited to let her beautiful eyes out from behind the glasses but oh well! Hailey also had her eyes checked and has perfect vision! I think she was a little disappointed not to be getting glasses though. Kelcie's eyes have improved quite a bit and we will be ordering new glasses for her this week. We're definitely getting good use out of our new insurance plan!

So I think that's the update for our house. We've been so busy this week with back to school shopping and appointments - we're staying home tomorrow - partly because my van is incapacitated and partly because we need a break! Pray with me that nothing new and drastic happens for awhile - I need some time to recover from my latest string of "luck!" (knock on wood...)
