It's Friday already and we have had a good week at our house. The girls have LOVED being back at school - they enjoy their teachers and their friends. I imagine that once they have homework next week, the drudgery of it all will start to kick in but for now they are happy!
I have enjoyed a nice week, myself, with time to work out, get some cleaning done and study for my big test next week. My brain is starting to remember things like fractions, percentages, integers, geometry, perimeter and all manner of mathematical things. I am just praying that I can retain this re-found knowledge long enough to take my test and pass it. I'm actually quite antsy to get back in the classroom and start subbing again. I love the peace and quiet of being home by myself but I have to admit that I'm a little at loose ends to fill my time and look forward to being a little busier. When I mentioned to the teachers at the girl's school that I would be subbing this year, they started to salivate so I think I should be able to stay as busy as I want to be, just at their school alone! It's so convenient to have that option. My next class also starts up on Sept. 9th so I imagine that in a few weeks I will be wishing to have this quiet time back but that's OK. It feels good to be working toward my goals.
Before I run, here's a Kelcie-ism that my friend Cristi told me about. Kelcie was over at her house a couple weeks ago, playing with Kayla, and Kelcie started telling them about this show we had watched on PBS about New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina and about how the levees broke.
So Kayla asks Kelcie, "What are levees?"
Kelcie says, " Oh, you know, things that make you feel good."
Cristi says, "Uhh, what are levees again, Kelcie?
And Kelcie says, " You know, levees, things that people like to have to make them feel good...like my blankie that I sleep with...
Cristi somehow manages not to shriek with laughter in front of my dear daughter....!!!
Somehow, this sweet child thought that levees and lovies were the same thing...no wonder she was so stressed after the show about the levees and flooding - there's no way her raggedy old blanket could ever hold back the flood waters...but it sure is hilarious!!
