Ok, so some of you know this already because I can't even keep my own secrets very well but I think that it's time to reveal the nature of my secret project. Drum Roll..............
On Tuesday, June 24th I am starting my Master's Program with the University of Phoenix and will be working on a Master's in Elementary Education! I should be finished within two years and most of the coursework is done online, with the exception of field hours and student teaching. Yea Me!! I'm very excited about this and looking forward to all that I will learn as well as the chance to use it in my very own classroom in a couple of years. My girls are getting so big now and I feel like I'm entering a new season in my life where I can pursue some of the things that I've put on hold for the last 15 years. Eric and the girls are super-supportive and I think that it's all going to work out nicely! Teaching is such a family-friendly profession and I think that it will work into our schedules well as the girls continue to grow.
So that's the big Secret! What do you think? Do you have any things that you hope to pursue one day when your time opens up a little more? Do you have a passion that gets put on the back-burner while you're raising your family? Does it feel a little selfish to want to do something more with yourself or is it good for your kids to see Mom accomplishing things on her own? It's such a delicate balance and I always wonder what other women think about this. Give me some feedback ladies!

Good for you!!! That's so great! You are right when you say that it's a delicate balance to have a family as well as pursue interests. I think your timing here is key. Your kids are not dependent on you 24 hours a day... why not spend a few of those on your education.
I think it's a great example to show your kids.
I am so proud of you. That takes a lot of effort and support. My mom graduated from nursing school the same year I did from high school. It was a great accomplishment for her, as it will be for you. Congratulations, you are awesome.
I almost started my masters program when Jen was 1. I found out it would be about 40 hours a week. Not a great idea for me. This online stuff is great, and you can do your homework while they are in school.
Good for you. You go girl! I would love to get more into cake decorating, back into ballroom dancing :) And spend lots of time doing family history stuff, but I have to complete with everyone else to get on the computer.
