Happy Mother's Day to my Mom!
This picture reminds me that I need to take more pictures of myself with my girls - this is the most recent one I could find!
What a nice day this has been today! My lovely girls and super husband have treated me royally and it has been so enjoyable. I've been thinking about mothers today - my mother, Eric's mom, moms from my teenage years who were so influential, my friends who are moms, my sisters who are moms - where would we be without mothers? I have been blessed with an angel for a mother - truly. I know so many people feel that way about their moms but my mom has probably been the single greatest influence in my life - the kind of mother I am today has everything to do with the mother she was to me. Eric's mom is a blessing as well - my husband would not be the sensitive, loving person he is without her influence. I am also continually blessed by my sisters and my friends as I watch them mother their children - they inspire me to do better and try a little harder and I am SO grateful for all these women who influence the lives of my children. That quote - "It takes a village to raise a child" is no joke! My girls have a steady stream of grandmothers, aunts and extra "moms" who teach them, help them and love them - how lucky we are!
It's also important to note that my children make motherhood a joy. Of course we are not without our quirks, frustrations and bad days but my girls are amazing and I love being their mom.
This is the kind of mom I am:I'm the kind of mom who likes a routine.
I'm the kind of mom who likes a break from the routine.
I'm the kind of mom who likes to dance in the car.
I'm the kind of mom who likes to poke fun at her kids.
I'm the kind of mom who likes her kids to poke fun back!
I'm the kind of mom who will let you stay in your PJ's all day - once in a while!
I'm the kind of mom who will spend an evening painting your toenails and giving you a facial - good thing we don't have boys at our house!
I'm the kind of mom who will let you skip school when your cousins are in town.
I'm the kind of mom who complains when I feel like I have to do everything!
I'm the kind of mom who thanks her kids when I don't have to do everything!
I'm the kind of mom who likes to make sure her kids have a snack when they get home from school.
I'm the kind of mom who likes to make cookies and lets her kids lick the beaters.
I'm the kind of mom who can't bear to think of her kids getting big and growing up.
I'm the kind of mom who can't wait to see what kind of people these girls will turn into!
I'm the kind of mom who always carries gum, mints and tissues in her purse.
I'm the kind of mom who always forgets to bring a camera to important events - so I take pictures in my heart instead!
I'm the kind of mom who secretly thinks her kids are the prettiest, smartest, and nicest kids around!
What kind of mom are you?
