The Lazy Days of Summer

When I was a kid, I remember summer as being long and lazy. I remember playing outside til it was dark and getting up in the morning and feeling the dew of the wet grass on my bare feet. I remember swim lessons and Popsicles. A child's view of summer is very different from a mother's view of summer - I doubt my mother remembers those long summer days with as much fondness as I do! Then again, she never had to raise her kids in the Las Vegas summertime! Needless to say, summer does not seem as lazy to me as I might like! We're constantly in motion trying to keep ourselves busy and occupied. I have two papers and a group project due by Sunday this week for my class and I'm trying to get them all done by Friday so that I can devote my weekend to reading "Breaking Dawn!" (I obviously have my priorities straight!) Erika goes to Girl's Camp next week so we are trying to get her ready - tonight is the Camp Rally and there is a festive feeling in the air today because of it! There's been swim lessons, soccer practice and school shopping this week and we've got to head to the library today since it's the last day to get the rewards for the summer reading program. No, things aren't lazy around here...but then again, I start feeling guilty if I'm not keeping busy so I suppose it's better this way. But there is a part of me that longs for two weeks at the beach - Cape Cod or something (not that I've ever been there but it sounds nice!). Maybe next summer....

I love reading your posts. Your summer sounds similar to mine, minus the classes. I hope that's going well for you and you are enjoying it. Looks like I'm going to have to break down and read the twilight books.

My poor children will probably never experience your kind of summer, unless I become a great mother and do stuff with them. Plus our school starts in two weeks...YIPEEE!!!!!!
